Replace Brake Pads with Ease

Brakes are a crucial part in the functioning of your car. In fact, without a good set of brakes your car is unsafe and can lead to the damage of your property as well as others. When your brakes get old it could take a lot of money to replace them, but if you have the know how you can do it yourself for a whole lot less.

The first thing you need to think about when replacing brake pads is getting your car off the ground. The easiest way to do this from home is to place cinder blocks under the car. The blocks should be placed under the wheels so that the car wont roll while you're working. After you do this you want to loosen the lug nuts on the tire, but don't remove them completely. After they are loose lift the car with the jack so you can work a lot easier. Make sure you use jack stands to secure the car more.

If you are looking for mobile auto glass repair in Benicia, California, then Duran's Auto Glass is the place to go.
When the car is secure you can finish taking off the lug nuts and remove the tire and wheel from the vehicle. Before you remove the old brakes the caliper must be removed by a simple wrench, but don't let the caliper hang there. You can secure the caliper with a bungee cord to prevent damage to the brake line.  The brake pads rest on the other side of the caliper.

The brake pads with be secured by various different types of hardware depending on car type. This hardware is easily removed and the brake pads will slide right off. After the pads are removed you must look inside the caliper and switch the piston to its original position. Then you can easily slide the new brake pads into the slots and secure them with the hardware.

Now that you have new brakes you will want to follow the same steps you took to put the car back in working order. Your new brakes should not squeak and should be easy to use. With your patience you will have learned a new skill set that will have saved you hundreds.
